Born in North Carolina and raised in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Sarah Hart Grigsby is a contemporary artist living and working near Tulsa. Grigsby took traditional oil painting lessons for thirteen years and now teaches out of her home studio, where she strives to reduce the formulaic approach to art marking. Grigsby works in a variety of media and her work has been featured in locations throughout Oklahoma since she was sixteen years old. In 2006 she opened a gallery in Tulsa- the Red Fork Art Gallery- with other local artists, but now exhibits her work as a visiting artist at numerous galleries. Grigsby’s current work is emotionally driven, intent on referencing the contrasting aspects of humanity through the use of the figure and common experience.

“Art should make you feel. And maybe it makes you feel alive and rejuvenated, or it may make you laugh or even weep, or cause you to catch your breath and just be still for a moment- or maybe it devastates you, or disgusts you, or breaks your heart. But art should always be affective. Always.” –Sarah Hart Grigsby
